We all desire authenticity. No one likes to experience inauthentic encounters. We all want what is real. When I gave my heart to Christ on October 14, 1981, I became intimately aware of the “real”. His relationship with me has changed the way I see everything. He has changed my entire life and I am so thankful! Because of Christ, I do not have to pretend, I can be who He has made me. I do not have to try to be like anyone else because He made me just the way I am. With Jesus, I can be real. There is no greater joy for me than to empower people to see themselves just like that, real.
Not only do I love just being “real”, I also love reading the Bible and seeing answers to life’s questions, situations, and scenarios. The Bible is an extraordinary book that is full of wisdom, but it is so much more than that! It reveals the nature and character of Jesus Christ over a consistent span of time. When I read the Bible, I can see how the stories of old can teach us strategies that will empower us today. Over the course of my 28 years in pastoral ministry, I have been referred to as “the revelatory teacher” meaning that I love being able to take seemingly complex concepts and break them down in a way that is easy to understand even for the smallest child. I really love being able to share the Bible.
Being real and revelatory are certainly hallmarks of who God has made me to be. One of my best traits, I feel is being relatable. You see, my friend, I really believe relationships are the key to fulfilment in life. I firmly believe that “everybody matters” regardless of where you come from, how old you are, how much money you have or do not have, what your political status may be, what your struggles are, or what strengths you possess. The bottom line is, God sees us all the same. Therefore, I love relating to all people from all different walks of life because I understand that we are all just—people. When you and I connect, my prayer is that my encounter with you will leave you strengthened every time. I want to encourage and empower you. I want to simply relate.
